Your account
WorkNook works without an account: choose "Continue without an account" and everything stays on your Mac. An account is optional — it exists to sync your data between Macs and to carry your Pro purchase — and is created through Sign in with Apple or Google. There are no passwords in WorkNook. The account is not used for advertising or profiling, and we don't enrich it with data from anywhere else.
What the app stores
WorkNook keeps the data it needs to do its job: the focus sets you create, your session history (start and end times, focus, break, and pause durations, focus scores, and which apps were active during a session), block templates and app lists, and your app preferences.
App activity awareness
To score a session and warn you about distractions, WorkNook observes which application is frontmost on your Mac — only while a focus session is running. This happens entirely on your device. The app records app names and identifiers, never keystrokes, screen contents, documents, or window titles.
Account data
If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication identifiers. WorkNook has no passwords of its own: signing in with Apple or Google shares only the name and email address those providers release to us, and verifying who you are stays with them.
Cloud sync
When you are signed in, your focus sets, session history, block templates, and app lists sync to our backend so your data survives reinstalls and stays consistent across devices. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and every record is scoped to your account, enforced by row-level security on the server.
What we don't do
WorkNook contains no ads, no third-party analytics, and no trackers. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. Your data is used for exactly one purpose: making the app work for you.
Third-party services
Our backend (authentication and database) is hosted by Supabase, acting as a data processor on our behalf. If you sign in with Google or Apple, those providers verify your identity and share your email address with us according to their own privacy policies. WorkNook also ships with public-domain audio cues by the Freesound contributor hollandm, played when one part of a session gives way to the next; they are ordinary files inside the app, so playing one reaches no service and sends nothing anywhere. Their licensing is covered in the Terms & Conditions.
Data retention and deletion
Signing out removes your data from this Mac. Deleting your account (Settings → Account → Delete Account) permanently removes your account and all synced data from our servers. Files you export yourself remain under your control.
Children
WorkNook is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version ships with the app and the date above is revised. Material changes will be called out in the release notes.
